The article examines the features of the migration processes in the Arctic zone of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The influence of the activities of enterprises in the extractive industry on the formation of the number, sex-age structure of the region's population is noted. The areas where the greatest increase and decrease in the population and changes in the territorial-settlement structure in the period between censuses are observed. The changes in the migration situation, the migration activity of the population, the structure of migration in the most remote, isolated and inaccessible areas of the Arctic zone of Yakutia are analyzed. The analysis shows that the persistent negative migration balance of both urban and rural settlements for many years indicates significant migration losses in the Arctic regions of Yakutia. The downward trend in the population of the Arctic zone of Yakutia due to the migration loss persists.

The subject of discussion is the question of formation of youth identity in regional and local communities in light of memory forming the future image of the region. It describes some of the individual characteristics of the region: industrial development, socio-demographic characteristics. A functional analysis of the memory place of the Mir mine, as recognized by the local community of the main diamond-mining region Mirny, is carried out. The author identified conceptions of memory places differing between generations. However, the generation gap in this case is characterized by social determinism, the selective nature of memory and features of the socio-political and socio-cultural space, "... but it is also symbolic, since it characterizes, by referring to events or experiences shared by a small minority, a larger group that may not have participated in them".

This article discusses some of the socio-demographic aspects of migration in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which have a huge impact on the formation of the population, labor force, the nature of communal and especially social development in the region. It describes the individual characteristics of internal migration, since the intensity of migration flows in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in recent years has significantly increased. Defined are some features of integration of rural migrant children in the host city community: a consolidating factor in the integration of children of rural migrants into the receiving urban community on the one hand are a common language, ethnic culture and history; complications of integration issues relate to housing, financial status of parents, with the age peculiarities of adaptation of teenagers and sometimes problems with Russian language.

The article is discussed the features of socio-economic adaptation of rural migrants. The main cause of internal migration remains disadvantaged socio-economic situation in rural areas - lack of adequate infrastructure of the settlement. The low level of rural employment in economic activities and low income contribute to the moving part of the labour force in the city. Our interviews showed that vocational education remains one of the most significant factors of social modernization, it determines the nature of employment, the level and quality of life and social status of rural migrants in urban areas

This article deals with the specifics of social adaptation and the formation of ethnic identity among the youth of the indigenous peoples of the North of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), in the context of globalization and reform sin Russian society. Based on empirical analysis the current state of the processes of adaptation and socialization of the growing generation of northern ethnic groups is characterized. The application of new approaches in the upbringing and education of the children of the indigenous peoples of the North, based on ethno pedagogy taking account of the traditional way of life, oriented at the formation of the child’s personality as a representative of one or other people of the North, in our view, already reveals positive tendencies from the point of view of the formation of ethnic identification and social adaptation of the younger generation.
