Intensity of thermal processes occurred in frozen grounds with inclusions of buried ice preliminary estimation necessity substantiated at projecting cryolitezone opencast surface complex constructions. It is accentuated, that special attention should be devoted to objects, which can render negative thawing effect to frozen grounds, particularly settling ponds, assigned to opencast and under dump waters cleaning. Projected half buried settling pond with protective dam specific example was considered, with using geomembrane as antifiltering element. Buried ice in structure base occupies almost whole area of second section and part of first section area of settling pond. In order to estimate possibility and following construction of such structures on areas, consisting of highly icy grounds, and also its rational exploitation regimes special mathematical model was developed. Multiversion numerical experiments were held. Calculations show, that water absence in settling pond in summer period can lead to thawing of buried ice. In summer period buried ice thawing doesn’t occur in case of settling pond filled by water to 1,0 m. and higher. In case of settling ponds both sections whole projected water filling in summer period in dam base and ground area surface grounds negative temperature maintained. Requirements on settling ponds rational exploitation were developed, maintaining it provides long time lasting stability and accident free treating complex functioning in summer period in cryolitezone conditions. Basic requirements are: settling pond both sections obligatory filling by cleanable water in summer period to depth not less of 1 meter; water drain with cold period coming. The results of held numerical experiments allow make a conclusion that maintaining above-listed conditions and requirements settling pond construction on frozen quaternary grounds with buried ice presence is possible from thermalphysic side. At that, raised protecting structures stability will be provided and treating complex normal functioning.
